The subject of the young researcher&#8217;s work concerned personalized medicine and was associated with patent applications &#8220;Medical use of 5,7-dihydroxy-3- (4-hydroxyphenyl) -4H-1-benzopyran-4-one in the treatment of Huntington&#8217;s disease and a pharmaceutically acceptable form of the drug&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The prize was awarded by Katarzyna Pierzynowska for the innovation of the presented research results and its potential for a broad impact on society, as research conducted by the UG scientific team may revolutionize the treatment of Huntington&#8217;s disease, which belongs to genetic neurodegenerative diseases for which no effective medicine has yet been invented.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karolina Pierzynowska from the University of Gda\u0144sk won the &#8220;Best Poster Award&#8221; competition during the 7th Central European Congress of Life Sciences EUROBIOTECH in Krakow.
