The selection took place during the 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistic and Probability was founded in 1975. It deals with supporting the development and dissemination of the achievements of mathematical statistics and probability theory. It supervises highly valued professional journals and coordinates the organization of several annual scientific conferences.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Jakubowski studied theoretical mathematics at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toru\u0144. He became interested in the theory of probability in 1975, undertaking cooperation with Dr Andrzej K\u0142opotowski. In 2011-2014 he was the deputy chairman of the Mathematics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
