Marcin Sie\u0144czyk from the Wroc\u0142aw University of Technology will investigate a dangerous virus. National Science Center has allocated over PLN 2 million for the project &#8220;O&#8217;nyong-nyong virus CP protease: substrate profiling, design and synthesis of inhibitors and molecular probes with their biochemical analysis&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; This virus is practically unexplored. We derive current knowledge by analogy to other viruses belonging to the same family. We deal with this topic because there is a real epidemic threat, perhaps also in Europe, and at the moment we do not have any medicine or vaccine.<br \/>\nThe aim of the project is designing compounds that inhibit the virus&#8217;s ability to multiply and reduce its infectious potential.
