Szyma\u0144ski from the inter-university faculty of biotechnology of the University of Gda\u0144sk and the Medical University of Gda\u0144sk becomes a laureate of the prestigious grant of the European Molecular Biology Organization &#8211; EMBO Installation Grants.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Szyma\u0144ski deals with the research of mitochondrial DNA repair mechanisms in humans. These studies may contribute to more effective diagnosis and treatment of cancer or neurodegenerative diseases.<\/p>\n<p>EMBO is an organization consisting of over 1,800 prominent scientists in the field of natural sciences in Europe and abroad. It grants awards to young outstanding scientists with foreign experience for setting up an innovative research laboratory.
