The competition is organized by the Molecular Biology Committee of the Cells of the Polish Academy of Sciences.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The main prize was received by Dr Joanna Ho\u0142\u00f3wka, Dr Damian Trojanowski, Dr Katarzyna Ginda, Dr Bartosz Wojta\u015b, Bart\u0142omiej Gielniewski, Prof. Dagmara Jakimowicz and Prof. Jolanta Zakrzewska-Czerwi\u0144ska for the work &#8220;HupB is a bacterial nucleoid-associated protein with an indispensable eukaryotic-like tail&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>One of two equally important awards was received by Dr. Agnieszka Strza\u0142ka, Dr. Marcin Szafran, Prof. Terence Strick and Prof. Dagmara Jakimowicz, for the work: &#8220;C-terminal lysine repeats in Streptomyces topoisomerase I stabilize the enzyme-DNA complex and confer high enzyme processivity&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Employees of the Department of Molecular Microbiology of the Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Wroclaw received Prof. Kazimierz Bassalik prize for the best Polish microbiological work.
