{"id":329994,"date":"2024-02-01T14:09:52","date_gmt":"2024-02-01T13:09:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polishscience.pl\/?p=329994"},"modified":"2024-02-01T14:10:11","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T13:10:11","slug":"lublin-to-digitise-historic-liturgical-vestments-in-3d","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polishscience.pl\/en\/lublin-to-digitise-historic-liturgical-vestments-in-3d\/","title":{"rendered":"Lublin to digitise historic liturgical vestments in 3D"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lublin University of Technology, the Archdiocesan Museum of Religious Art in Lublin and the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) Museum have started cooperation on a project concerning the 3D scanning of liturgical vestments. &#8220;This is probably the first project of its kind in Poland&#8221;, reports the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Historic artefacts from the Lublin collections including 3 chasubles from the KUL Museum and 3 pieces of liturgical vestments from the Archdiocesan Museum will be digitised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project will be carried out by employees associated with the &#8216;3D Lab&#8217; of the Faculty of Computer Science at Lublin University of Technology under the direction of Professor Jerzy Montusiewicz.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Digitisation of liturgical vestments (chasubles, tunics and copes) will be carried out using several technologies: laser scanning, structured light scanning and photogrammetry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The aim of the project is to conduct research into the usefulness and effectiveness of individual technologies in the process of digitally preserving objects such as liturgical vestments.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lublin University of Technology, the Archdiocesan Museum of Religious Art in Lublin and the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) Museum have started cooperation on a project concerning the 3D scanning of liturgical vestments. &#8220;This is probably the first project of its kind in Poland&#8221;, reports the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL).
