The European Commission has allocated more than EUR 10 million to the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quantum computers are still at the prototype stage and several development paths are possible. One of these is a solution based on photonic technologies and the use of photons as qubits. The EPIQUE (European Photonic Quantum Computer) project will explore the potential of just such devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Work in the EPIQUE project is aimed at developing photonic quantum computer technology in Europe&#8221;, said Prof. Micha\u0142 Oszmaniec, Head of the Department of Quantum Computing and Quantum Communication, who coordinates the project from the NASK&#8217;s side. &#8211; &#8220;By integrating efforts on the technology side, algorithms, as well as novel methods of device characterisation, we are focusing on developing a viable path to an innovative quantum computing platform&#8221;, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Research Institute NASK is one of 18 partners in the scientific project EPIQUE, which aims to create a photonics-based quantum computer.
