{"id":323917,"date":"2023-12-28T09:44:37","date_gmt":"2023-12-28T08:44:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polishscience.pl\/?p=323917"},"modified":"2023-12-28T09:44:37","modified_gmt":"2023-12-28T08:44:37","slug":"scientists-from-the-polish-academy-of-sciences-test-how-a-chicory-prebiotic-could-fight-psoriasis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polishscience.pl\/en\/scientists-from-the-polish-academy-of-sciences-test-how-a-chicory-prebiotic-could-fight-psoriasis\/","title":{"rendered":"Scientists from the Polish Academy of Sciences test how a chicory prebiotic could fight psoriasis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientists from the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences ( IRZiB\u017b PAN) in Olsztyn are testing how supplementation with a prebiotic derived from chicory improves the health of patients with psoriasis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We suppose that restoring the balance of intestinal microbiota and proper functioning of the intestinal barrier in people with psoriasis will alleviate the symptoms of inflammation and the severity of skin lesions observed in this chronic skin inflammation&#8221;, explains Urszula Krupa-Kozak, PhD, Professor of the IRZiB\u017b PAN in Olsztyn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plaque psoriasis is a chronic dermatitis with an immunological basis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The pathogenesis of psoriasis is not yet fully understood.
