She was distinguished for her doctoral thesis on the synthesis and biotransformation of flavonoids with a methyl group.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In her research, the laureate focused on flavonoids, secondary metabolites of plants with enormous health-promoting potential &#8211; having anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anticancer properties. Flavonoids combined with a methyl group are characterised by higher metabolic stability, better intestinal absorption and bioavailability, making them attractive compounds in the context of pharmacology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr Krawczyk-\u0141ebek&#8217;s work led to the discovery of 32 new flavonoid derivatives, 29 of which had not previously been reported in the literature.
