Scientists at the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IRZiB\u017b PAN) in Olsztyn have just demonstrated that vitamin D in healthy individuals actually helps maintain a state of balance in immune system cells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It has long been known that vitamin D has a beneficial effect on human health. In our recent studies, we have confirmed that in healthy individuals, vitamin D stabilises the homeostasis of human immune cells and counteracts molecular stress occurring, for example, due to microbial infection or inflammation&#8221;, emphasises Dr Julia Jaros\u0142awska-Miszkiewicz from the Nutrigenomics Laboratory of the IRZiB\u017b PAN.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As she added, previously this knowledge was presumed, but now, for the first time, it has been confirmed in studies that vitamin D in a healthy organism actually regulates biological functions at the cellular level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The findings were published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read more:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/1422-0067\/24\/19\/14632\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/1422-0067\/24\/19\/14632<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vitamin D regulates hundreds of genes and dozens of physiological functions in the human body, including those responsible for immune system activity.
