{"id":313170,"date":"2023-10-31T15:20:21","date_gmt":"2023-10-31T14:20:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polishscience.pl\/?p=313170"},"modified":"2023-10-31T15:20:21","modified_gmt":"2023-10-31T14:20:21","slug":"filip-friedman-becomes-patron-of-the-centre-for-jewish-studies-at-the-university-of-lodz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polishscience.pl\/en\/filip-friedman-becomes-patron-of-the-centre-for-jewish-studies-at-the-university-of-lodz\/","title":{"rendered":"Filip Friedman becomes patron of the Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Centre for Jewish Research at the Institute of History at the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the University of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a (U\u0141) is now officially named after Filip Friedman, born in Lw\u00f3w (today&#8217;s Lviv) in 1901 and also associated with \u0141\u00f3d\u017a as a world-renowned Holocaust researcher.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Centre for Jewish Research was established on 1 July 2005 at the U\u0141 Institute of History. Its activities concern the history of Jews in Poland and focus primarily on the 19th and 20th centuries, which is largely dictated by the specificity of the \u0141\u00f3d\u017a region. The history of the Lodz Ghetto and the German occupation in Lodz and the Lodz region occupies a special place in the research conducted by the Centre&#8217;s team. It carries out research and publishing projects in cooperation with academic centres at home and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the Centre&#8217;s achievements to date are the publication of a five-volume source publication Chronicle of the Lodz Ghetto\/Litzmannstadt Getto 1941-1944, an Encyclopaedia of the Ghetto and a number of monographs and scientific articles.
