The laureate and the winner of the PLN 200,000 prize will be announced on 2 October at the University of Wroc\u0142aw. The award is to honour Polish scientists who conduct research at the highest level and whose discoveries change the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year&#8217;s nominees are Prof. Mariusz Jask\u00f3lski of Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna\u0144 &#8211; chemical sciences, X-ray crystallography, Prof. Tomasz Kapitaniak of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a University of Technology &#8211; technical sciences, mechanics and electronics, and Prof. Lechos\u0142aw Latos-Gra\u017cy\u0144ski of Wroc\u0142aw University &#8211; chemical sciences, organic chemistry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The founder of the award, Prof. Norbert Heisig, is a German physician who was born in Breslau in 1933. He combined his medical studies with classical philology at the universities of Freiburg, T\u00fcbingen and Hamburg.
