{"id":302514,"date":"2023-09-01T09:07:02","date_gmt":"2023-09-01T07:07:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polishscience.pl\/?p=302514"},"modified":"2023-09-01T09:07:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T07:07:37","slug":"archaeological-discoveries-in-the-lublin-botanic-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polishscience.pl\/en\/archaeological-discoveries-in-the-lublin-botanic-garden\/","title":{"rendered":"Archaeological discoveries in the Lublin Botanic Garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Researchers from the Maria Curie Sklodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin have summarised the latest archaeological discoveries in Lublin&#8217;s Botanic Garden, which may be a breakthrough in reconstructing the history of S\u0142awinek and thus of significant importance for the origins of urban Lublin.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Researchers from the Institute of Archaeology of the Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University, together with staff from the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences of the Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University, have been conducting research as part of the project &#8216;Redoubt of T. Ko\u015bciuszko in defence of the 3rd of May Constitution&#8217; since 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The task set before the archaeologists was simple &#8211; to prove that this object was made by human hand. In the course of the research, we discovered several finds that can be linked to Tadeusz Ko\u015bciuszko,&#8221; said Dr Rafa\u0142 Nied\u017awiadek, head of archaeological work in the Botanical Garden of the Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University and added that with the help of lidar and GPR, it was checked what was beneath the surface of the ground. As it turned out, this part of the garden concealed a walled structure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The walls are fragments of a defensive court that existed before the Redoubt was built.
