The list includes 9 Polish universities. The highest place (in the 401-500 range) is occupied by the University of Warsaw together with the Jagiellonian University in Krak\u00f3w.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ARWU is an international ranking of the world&#8217;s best universities published since 2003. The ShanghaiRanking Consultancy assesses more than 2,500 universities. The 1,000 highest ranked form the so-called Shanghai List.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Harvard University is ranked first on this year&#8217;s list, Stanford University second and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) third.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Shanghai List is compiled on the basis of six indicators, including the number of alumni and staff who have received a Nobel Prize or Fields Medal, the number of authors of the most cited scientific papers, the number of articles in Nature and Science journals, and data on the university&#8217;s publication output in selected Web of Science\u2122 databases: the Science Citation Index Expanded\u2122 and the Social Sciences Citation Index\u2122.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This year&#8217;s Academic Ranking of World Universities, known as the Shanghai List, has been released.
