Researchers from the Department of Organic, Bioorganic Chemistry and Biotechnology at the Silesian University of Technology have synthesised polymers that until recently were very expensive. The results of their ground-breaking research will help improve the conduct of research in many scientific disciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n

‘Thanks to the synergistic combination of competences in polymer chemistry and nanomaterials, we have made a breakthrough in the purification of single-walled carbon nanotubes, which opens the way for the application of these very promising materials in many branches of the economy, such as nanomedicine, telecommunications or microelectronics,’ says the head of the research team, Dr Dawid Janas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

‘We discovered that one of the polymers obtained has an unusual tendency to wrap around only one type of nanotubes (those with the smallest size) out of a dozen, thanks to which we separated this nanomaterial and demonstrated its great application potential,’ adds the scientist.<\/span><\/p>\n
