The European Commission has approved the proposal created as part of a consortium of which the Silesian university is a member.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Silesian Medical University (SUM) is a member of the consortium as an Associated Partner, and the main coordinator of activities on the Polish side is the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Cardiovascular diseases and diabetes are the leading causes of death worldwide. The costs of treating non-communicable diseases are high and are expected to rise further, also taking into account the ageing population of the European Union.
