Poland is beginning to divide into a ‘poor’ north and a ‘prosperous’ south, according to a report by researchers at the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) analysing rural areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monitoring Rural Development is Poland’s first – and so far only – research project on rural areas, carried out since 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n

The report, which has just been published, summarises 10 years of systematic research on the socio-economic development of rural areas in Poland. The authors of the report ‘Monitoring Rural Development. Stage IV. A decade of socio-economic changes” are employees of the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Monika Stanny, PhD, Prof. Andrzej Rosner and \u0141ukasz Komorowski, MA.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Polish Academy of Sciences, a new, clear line is emerging from the research, separating the south-western part of the country from the north-eastern part. The southern part gains a more favourable assessment of development in terms of social processes, while in the north these assessments are relatively low and very low. The axis dividing the areas runs along the line Szczecin – Pozna\u0144 – \u0141\u00f3d\u017a – Rzesz\u00f3w.<\/span><\/p>\n
