The competition was organised by Salumanus, a leader in the telecommunications industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Salumanus provides solutions for building new and expanding existing telecommunications networks. It has specialised in data transmission using optical networks for more than 20 years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The aim of the &#8216;For sustainable networks&#8217; competition was to select the most interesting design for the casing of the SRD GBC Photonics optical module programmer, i.e. a device enabling multiple reprogramming of optical modules (which reduces the amount of electro-waste).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The winning design by PK students is characterised by a minimalist design, a functional enclosure designed to facilitate the transport and storage of more devices and a special indentation for the power cable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Micha\u0142 Pawlus and Jakub Kot, industrial design engineering students at the Krak\u00f3w University of Technology (PK), were the winners of the &#8220;For Sustainable Networks&#8221; competition for the design of the casing for GBC Photonics&#8217; Smart Recode Device optical module programmer.
