He was awarded in the category of Visionary of Science.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The jury appreciated Professor Trzonkowski&#8217;s research into the therapeutic use of regulatory T lymphocytes in autoimmune diseases, which made it possible to develop a new method of combating this type of illness. The laureate&#8217;s experiments are an opportunity to create an innovative therapy to be used in the treatment of early forms of type 1 diabetes and the prevention of the disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prof. Trzonkowski was the first in the world to use Treg lymphocytes in the treatment of type 1 diabetes and is still developing this method.
