In this competition, \u20ac544 million will be awarded to 218 scholars selected from 1,650 applications. Two Poles make up the group of laureates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prof Andrzej Dziembowski from the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw is the first scientist from Poland to receive an Advanced Grant in life sciences. The aim of his project is to understand the mechanisms of mRNA processing in cells and throughout the body, which will enable the development of a new generation of mRNA-based therapies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prof. Daniel T. Gryko from the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences became the first Polish chemist with an ERC Advanced grant.
