Researchers at the Wroc\u0142aw University of Science and Technology want to build a remote laser sensor capable of detecting leaks or gas emissions at a distance of up to 100 metres. The researchers will test the device in cooperation with the Ekosystem company and will soon apply for a grant from the National Centre for Research and Development, the university announced.<\/span><\/p>\n

Operating at the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems, the Laser Gas Spectroscopy Group has been developing laser-based methods for precise and selective gas detection for years. Up to now, these have been sensors that perform a point measurement, i.e. at the location where the sensor is mounted.<\/span><\/p>\n

“For the past two years, we have been approached by industry to develop a laser gas sensor that would enable remote, or ‘at a distance’, measurement. This is primarily related to increasing the safety of workers,’ says Dr Karol Krzempek from the Department of Field Theory, Electronic Systems and Optoelectronics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
