Its main task is the implementation of the National Copernican Programme, which includes: funding of scientific research; support for Nicolaus Copernicus High School; the awarding of Copernican Prizes; the appointment of Ambassadors of the Copernican Academy and the granting of financial support for tasks carried out by them; the organisation of the World Copernican Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The term of office of the Secretary General lasts seven years. His tasks include the day-to-day management of the Academy&#8217;s activities and representing it externally.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Krzysztof G\u00f3rski is an eminent scientist.
