During talks with SGGW authorities, the university&#8217;s historical ties with the USA were discussed, as well as SGGW&#8217;s current scientific cooperation with American universities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the highlights of the US Ambassador&#8217;s visit to SGGW was the ceremonial unveiling of a commemorative plaque in front of a 200-year-old black walnut tree (Juglans nigra L.). The tree was planted by Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, a prominent writer and politician, owner of the estate which gave its name to the Warsaw district of Ursyn\u00f3w. According to a historical account, the walnut sapling was given to Niemcewicz by George Washington, the first President of the United States, during his tour of America in 1797-1807.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark Brzezinski stressed that he enjoyed meeting scientists. &#8220;It does not matter where we are from.
