It is expected to act on both the symptoms and the cause of the disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Atopic dermatitis is the most common allergic skin disease in dogs. It already affects nearly one in three pets in Poland. The disease has a genetic basis and runs with symptoms of inflammation and itching. Thousands of dogs are waiting for a safer and more effective therapy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, the treatment of atopic dermatitis in dogs is a complex and lengthy process. Veterinarians still only have drugs at their disposal that act symptomatically. Such therapy does not produce long-lasting effects, and chronic use increases the risk of side effects. Researchers from UPWr have an opportunity to change this. A new drug for AD is undergoing clinical trials in the Department of Internal Medicine with the Canine and Feline Clinic.
