Wroc\u0142aw University of Science and Technology is implementing the ‘Ulopolis’ project. Curently, work has begun on the university’s campus to prepare a new flower bed. Over 400 sq m will be planted with 2,200 primarily honey-growing plants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Ulopolis, scientists are working on measuring instruments and equipment to help care for bee colonies. The next stage of the project is the creation of a flower bed to provide additional food for the bees. This will include 34 plant species including perennials such as scallop, cornflower, asters, catnip, sage, rudbeckia, honeysuckle, goldenrod, lobelia and clematis. Interesting features will be the ornamental grass Chinese miscanthus and the climbing plant grapevine.<\/span><\/p>\n

The creation of the flowerbed was co-financed by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection as part of the ‘Monitored Urban Apiary’ project and by the Wroc\u0142aw University of Science and Technology. The life of the bees can be followed around the clock thanks to a system of cameras mounted outside and inside the hives.<\/span><\/p>\n
