{"id":235202,"date":"2022-08-23T10:43:38","date_gmt":"2022-08-23T08:43:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polishscience.pl\/?p=235202"},"modified":"2022-08-23T10:43:38","modified_gmt":"2022-08-23T08:43:38","slug":"polish-academy-of-sciences-to-hold-symposium-visualisations-in-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polishscience.pl\/en\/polish-academy-of-sciences-to-hold-symposium-visualisations-in-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Polish Academy of Sciences to hold symposium &#8220;Visualisations in Science&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences is organising a symposium on &#8216;Visualisations in Science&#8217; to be held in Warsaw on 12-13 September.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the organisers, the theme of the symposium is the role of visualisation in science in a broad sense, both in the presentation of results and in the research practices themselves; in explaining, modelling, communicating and in teaching.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dominance of the visual in science, and of the visual among human forms of perception, is an opinion both trumped up and not obvious. Through the study of science and technology, we have assimilated the vision of &#8216;thinking with hands and eyes&#8217;. From the beginning, cognitive science has exploited visual cognition as an area of research, but also of theoretical dispute, where it is easiest to &#8216;visualise&#8217; one&#8217;s own rationale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dynamic systems theory and mathematical modelling appear to be extremely effective in graphically capturing the structures and processes under investigation.
