Hydroponics is a soilless method of growing plants that allows them to be planted in a nutrient solution containing a mineral salt solution. Such crops can be carried out not only on an industrial scale, but also in home gardens. The research carried out at the University of Gda\u0144sk is aimed at closing the water cycle in hydroponic lettuce cultivation by purifying the effluent in the green wall system.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe want to investigate whether the water used to water our crops, which further forms the nutrient solution, can be reused, or even several times. The closed circuit allows for a significant reduction in the amount of water used for hydroponic cultivation, which is extremely important due to climate change, which results in the problem with the availability of water says Dr Karolina Matej-\u0141ukowicz.<\/span><\/p>\n
