Scientists from the Institute of Technical Sciences of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toru\u0144 improved the operation of a robot arm working on production lines. The use of an algorithm inspired by nature resulted in energy savings and increased machine efficiency.<\/b><\/p>\n
The use of mobile robots or robot arms in many areas of industry is not unusual today – it is even a common practice. They are often used, for example, for palletizing goods on production lines.<\/span><\/p>\n The researchers wanted to palletize as many items as possible from the production lines as quickly as possible and that they were evenly distributed in appropriate containers. It was also important to use as little energy as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n An artificial bee colony algorithm supported by Deba rules was used to achieve the goal. This is an optimization technique based on the intelligence of the herd, which was inspired by the search for food by honeybees.<\/span><\/p>\n
