{"id":219758,"date":"2022-05-27T10:57:59","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T08:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polishscience.pl\/?p=219758"},"modified":"2022-05-27T10:57:59","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T08:57:59","slug":"polish-scientists-to-treat-brain-tumors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polishscience.pl\/en\/polish-scientists-to-treat-brain-tumors\/","title":{"rendered":"Polish scientists to treat brain tumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Scientists from the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), the Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Warsaw have developed a new liquid drug carrier that will help in the treatment of brain tumors and eliminate the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the classic chemotherapeutic agent, the new carrier also contains molecules that silence or block genes involved in the development of neoplastic tissue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mechanism of synthetic lethality, i.e. forced cell death, was used there. The carrier itself is in the form of a multiple emulsion, which allows scientists to isolate substances used in therapy and control the rate of their release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The solution was tested on glioblastoma cells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cResearch has shown that the therapy proposed by our team is much more effective than classic chemotherapy, said Dr Eng.
