The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toru\u0144 will cooperate with the Save Wild Cats Foundation. Prof. Andrzej Sokala, the rector of the university and Mariusz Smole\u0144, the president of the foundation, signed a letter of intent on joint actions aimed at saving extinct species of wild cats.<\/b><\/p>\n
They are planning to establish a center that will be run by the foundation, and veterinary employees and students will be able to use it for scientific, educational, research and clinical purposes. The uniqueness of the animals that will be staying at the center will also open up new opportunities for the university to establish international academic contacts.<\/span><\/p>\n The center is also to be open to the public; unique, unknown species of cats will be available to visit seven days a week. It is planned to bring to Toru\u0144 most of the rare species of cats, including the arboreal marbled leopard or – mistakenly considered extinct -flat- headed cat, leading a semi-aquatic lifestyle.<\/span><\/p>\n
