The results of their research are to increase the driving efficiency of units and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Ultra-large container ships individually have the highest carbon footprint, but take advantage of economies of scale and transport a huge amount of goods around the world. The aim of the project is to minimize fuel consumption, improve maneuverability and increase navigation safety by introducing three innovative solutions to ultra-large container ships: two-propeller configuration, azimuth thrusters and counter-rotating propellers.<\/p>\n<p>The project consortium also includes: Seatech Engineering sp. Z oo (Poland), Hamburgische Schiffbau-Versuchsanstalt GmbH (Germany), Center of Marine Technologies (Germany), BRABO (Belgium), Piening Propeller (Germany).
