Researchers from Wroc\u0142aw university were searching for new semiconductor materials that could be used in electronic devices of the latest generation.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientists from the Department of Experimental Physics, conducting joint research with partners from Germany, Russia, Japan and Taiwan, are looking for new semiconductor materials, the so-called atomically thin, i.e. substances that can be easily separated into layers of different thicknesses. This phenomenon became the subject of interest to scientists after receiving a single two-dimensional layer of carbon, so-called graphene and the discovery of its unique properties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The researched monolayers of transition metal chalcogenides are atomically thin, just like graphene.
