{"id":205718,"date":"2021-12-13T16:21:34","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T15:21:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polishscience.pl\/?p=205718"},"modified":"2021-12-13T16:21:34","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T15:21:34","slug":"scientists-from-olsztyn-to-understand-the-mechanism-of-multiple-sclerosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polishscience.pl\/en\/scientists-from-olsztyn-to-understand-the-mechanism-of-multiple-sclerosis\/","title":{"rendered":"Scientists from Olsztyn to understand the mechanism of multiple sclerosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The scientists from the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn are close to understanding how multiple sclerosis (MS) arises in humans.\u00a0This opens the way to the development of an effective method of combating it.\u00a0An article on this topic appeared in the American &#8220;Neurology Neuroimmunology &amp; Neuroinflammation&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The authors of the article are scientists from UWM: Prof.\u00a0Krzysztof Selmaj, head of the Department of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine,\u00a0Prof.\u00a0Marcin Mycko\u00a0and\u00a0Dr Anna \u017burawska\u00a0with the participation of\u00a0Prof.\u00a0Raine\u00a0from the USA and\u00a0Igor Selmaj\u00a0from the Neurology Center in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the causes of MS are not exactly known. Both genetic and environmental factors are believed to be responsible for this health disorder.
