{"id":200413,"date":"2021-11-02T21:55:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T20:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polishscience.pl\/?p=200413"},"modified":"2021-11-02T21:55:16","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T20:55:16","slug":"chemist-from-the-wroclaw-university-of-science-and-technology-receives-prime-ministers-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.polishscience.pl\/en\/chemist-from-the-wroclaw-university-of-science-and-technology-receives-prime-ministers-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Chemist from the Wroc\u0142aw University of Science and Technology receives Prime Minister&#8217;s award \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dr Eng.\u00a0Jan Zar\u0119ba from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Wroc\u0142aw University of Technology was granted the Prime Minister&#8217;s award for his outstanding doctoral dissertation.\u00a0His research concerns the design and synthesis of a new generation of nanomaterials.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The laureate deals with nonlinear optical properties of coordination polymers.\u00a0This is advanced research on the use of nonlinear optics for thermometry.\u00a0The research results will be used in optoelectronics and nanophotonics, including medical diagnostics, e.g. in bioimaging (temperature measurements inside tissues), also in industry, e.g. for measuring the temperature of hard-to-reach mechanical elements.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Zar\u0119ba explored the issues related to nonlinear optics during a research internship at the University of Canberra in Australia, and in Germany &#8211; at Technische Universitat Munchen and Ruhr Universitat Bochum, where he dealt with the synthesis of porous organometallic networks.
