Fateley Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Paulina Kozio\u0142 from the National Synchrotron Radiation Center SOLARIS and a PhD student at the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow has won this year&#8217;s\u00a0William G. Fateley Award.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The award, sponsored by\u00a0The Coblentz Society\u00a0and the\u00a0Fateley\u00a0family, is given to one student for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of vibrational spectroscopy.<\/p>\n<p>Paulina Kozio\u0142 is conducting extensive work on the optimization of data pre-processing methods in terms of improving signal quality and classification results.\u00a0The result of her research was a series of publications on noise reduction optimization for FT-IR and QCL imaging.\u00a0Her current scientific interests deal with the use of polarized infrared light to determine the orientation and level of ordering of macromolecules, especially in fibrous tissue, which can play a key role in the microenvironment of tumors.<\/p>\n<p>She is a laureate of several awards, including the START scholarship from the Foundation for Polish Science and the\u00a0Iwanowska Award financed by the National Agency for Academic Exchange.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paulina Kozio\u0142 from the National Synchrotron Radiation Center SOLARIS and a PhD student at the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow has won this year&#8217;s\u00a0William G.
