In the next era, due to the concept of Wilhelm Humboldt, scientific research appeared as the second pillar of the university&#8217;s activity. In the 21st century, universities have been already based on three elements: education, research and the economy &#8211; said Professor Stanis\u0142aw Dzieko\u0144ski, rector of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszy\u0144ski University in Warsaw, in an interview for the journal &#8220;Science and Business&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Rector drew attention to the necessity of cooperation between universities and business, as one of the main impulses of productivity growth in developed economies. He also stressed the importance of innovations based on knowledge, education, research and development.<br \/>\nIn this context, it is important to formulate the goal and role of the 21st century university in the economy and the knowledge society.
