On Tuesday, April 17, the Nobel Prize winner will hold a lecture on &#8220;The New Kilogram Pattern in 2019: The Greatest Revolution in Metrology After the French Revolution&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The lecture concerns the changes in the International System of Units (SI system). Currently, only a basic unit of kilogram is defined on the basis of a specific object (platinum-iridium roller stored in Sevres). After the change, all 7 units will be based on universal physical constants, that is, phenomena, not objects. This will be possible thanks to the von Klitzing\u2019s discovery of the &#8220;quantum Hall phenomenon&#8221; for which the scientist received the Nobel Prize.<\/p>\n<p>Professor von Klitzing was born in 1943 in Sroda Wielkopolska in Poland.
